JOHN ALEXANDER - Director & General Manager

John Alexander is a British project management and sales & marketing professional with a successful business career spanning over 40 years in Europe, Africa and throughout the Middle East. John’s valued expertise has been gained through holding senior management posts in a variety of related industries, including hospitality operations and leisure services, development and management of real estate businesses, construction, contract services, material supplies and environmental engineering. Prior to his current responsibilities as Director and General Manager of The Consulting House, John was Senior Partner at Hajaj & Associates, a position he had held since 1998.  This well-known Saudi firm achieved notable success in various medium to large real estate projects throughout the Kingdom, providing specialist property development, management, marketing and operational services to a wide range of clients.

John’s previous posts included Marketing Director of GrandMet Middle East, a hospitality management and contract services company; Deputy General Manager of Arabian Homes, the number one expatriate housing development company in the Kingdom; and Director of Real Estate at Dallah Al Baraka’s Durrat Al Arus, the first ‘mega resort’ project developed in Saudi Arabia.

He continues to represent owners in the management of multiple hotel properties in Europe, USA and the Gulf countries and has served on a multi-national property task force within the hotel and resort sector.

John was Deputy Chairman of the British Business Group in Jeddah from 1987 to 1992 and Chairman of the Board of Governors of Jeddah Preparatory School from 1985 to 1993.

Other specific skills that John offers to clients include:

  • Direction of project management teams for real estate development, recreation and leisure construction programmes, up to final completion and operational commissioning;
  • Establishment of residential and commercial property management businesses, together with operational and maintenance policies and procedures;
  • Planning and executing business plans and marketing strategies for all aspects of real estate including advertising, public relations, collateral materials, promotions, exhibitions and most importantly, sales;
  • Negotiation of property sales and leases, including establishment of appropriate pricing schedules and legal frameworks;
  • Review of real estate financial management, including budgetary processes, accounting systems, analysis of revenue and expenditure, and presentation of financial reports;
  • Establishment of real estate industry procurement procedures;
  • Establishment and commissioning of property    management/control systems, supported by real estate industry software; and
  • Real estate staff recruitment and training
